Cancer is a disease that I think sometimes is given too much public awareness where it doesn't hit people until it hits home. It has hit home with me in the past. My aunt, my namesake, has been in remission for over ten years now, but had another scare just a few months ago. Thank God for us, everything turned out fine this time. One of my best friends is now going through the same thing I went through over ten years ago. Her aunt has cancer, but unfortunately, hers has spread throughout her body where there is little hope for her to go into remission. I went to a benefit for her this weekend and I feel such a sense of pride in humanity when I see so many people coming together for one purpose.

With so many horrible things going on in this world, it is important to see this kind of thing. I just feel better about the world when I see it. This brings me to the video below. I stumbled upon this months ago, and the first time I saw it I cried. And since then, this song has become such an inspiration to me. Just seeing so many of today's women musicians come together, collaborate on such a meaningful song, moves me to tears.
